It's a shame Obama and the Dems have failed to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour like they promised. Washington state has a minimum wage of $10.19 an hour (the highest in the country) and their economy is doing better than most other states.

whyamimrpink78 What's the point of having a good economy if the young adult population (many of whom don't make much more than minimum wage) is struggling?

Texas suffers from wider income inequality than Washington. That's the problem.

whyamimrpink78 If you're a firm believer in middle out economics then it does. America's middle class is dying. Raising the minimum wage would raise middle class wages because middle class jobs would feel pressure to pay more to their employees. Their employees would start to complain that their wages were the same as people working in fast food and they'd feel pressured to raise wages. "Hey those people at Arby's are getting paid $10.00 an hour now. How come our wages here at the pillow factory haven't gone up? We're still making $10 an hour!" You see, it's the middle class that stimulates the economy. The dying middle class. Not the rich. Trickle down economics doesn't work because the rich don't spend a whole lot of money. They invest their money in hedge funds, stock portfolios, and retirement. It's the middle class who are uneducated about investing that spends the most money. The young adult population today is poorer than their parents. Why is that? Because middle class jobs don't pay as much as they used to. Neither do low end jobs. The worst thing is, they don't seem to care that they're making less money than their parents did because NONE of the jobs pay as good as they used to. Name one job today that pays just as good as it did in 1970, adjusted for inflation. You can't because there are none.

whyamimrpink78 P.S. I'm not including high end jobs like top doctors, lawyers, CEOs, etc. Just regular jobs that 98 to 99 percent of people have. Name one middle class or low end job that earns more today than it did in 1970. The middle class should no longer be called the middle class. They should be called the spending class. The real job creators are people who spend. Not the top earners. We had a wealth gap in medieval times too. It was inefficient and people back then were too stupid to realize it. Just like people today. Even ancient Rome had a thriving middle class before it fell. America no longer has a thriving middle class and if we continue this trend then we deserve to fall. Just like Rome fell. Because we're stupid. Too stupid to maintain a thriving middle class. If you don't believe that the middle class is dying because the current wealth gap then I challenge you to find one middle class job today that pays more than it did in 1970. Not even the Romans were stupid enough to believe in trickle down economics. Only Americans are stupid enough to fall for that bull. That takes a special kind of dumb. It's embarrassing that the most powerful nation in the world has down syndrome.

The Republicans say: OMG! This is socialism. I'm moving to Canada. LOL. Get it? Because Canada is more socialist than America. That's why it's funny.
