I love how y'all consistently structure the "cool animal facts" in these videos using a hypothesis-evidence-rebuttal-better-hypothesis dialog, rather than just saying, "bulldog bats are afraid of the moon" or even jumping straight to, "the best hunting is when the fish are attracted to artificial lights." It's such a cool way of getting your audience to engage and showing how scientists think and how our understanding of these bizarre beasts has evolved! 🦇

Their reproductive organs being on their legs just reminds me of Kirk's fight scene on Rura Penthe in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. ""I was lucky that thing had knees" "That was not his knee."

haha, I knew about these beauties from Joey "Call Me The Lamp" Josselson's channel, where he keeps several varieties. It's really cool to get a deep dive of the science behind these incredible snakes. Bonus shout-out of the appearance of the "judgemental shoelace" at 5:40

When Minecraft added Armadillos to the game this year, I was one of the people in the comments saying, "Who's gonna tell them?" But fact checks like this shut me up. I still think Mojang could have done more good (re: awareness and conservation) by adding Pangolins instead, but I'm happy to see the turtle-rabbits, nonetheless.

Slime molds out here catching strays when they've literally been used to plan out transit systems that are more efficient than ones created by whole collectives of hyu-mons. 😉

100% agree. I've been saying octopodes since John Oliver ranted about it years ago.

Hard disagree. Most of us have already heard the Wrong, and getting the ahcshully chaser follows the common debunking format my brain (at least) has come to expect from Miniminuteman, AstroAlexandra, Dr. Mike, etc. It's also an effective way to prime the audience to debunk that misinformation themselves when they encounter it in other places.

I don't care how good or bad your "form" is—why are you getting frisky with anchovies? 🐟

This is even funnier if you know that (fruit) bats will 💯get sloshed off of fermented fruit (like, literally, they're definitely drunk) but will proceed to fly just fine.

Not sure the backstory behind her handbag, but apparently people can and do make them from roadkill. Which is macabre, sure, but ethically is fine in my book.

I started getting recommended them when I started following SciShow, and I thought, "Ew, no! This channel is clearly ripping off Hank!" It wasn't until months later that I saw Hank in a thumbnail and realized Bizarre Beasts was a sister channel. How embarrassing for me.😅

That's awesome! Have y'all published your findings? Would love to give 'em a read!

Flying foxes are still my favorite sky puppies, but that bulldog face is definitely extremely adorable.

What a collab that would be...

Kleptochemistry sounds like how I got through high school, lol.

Oh sure, when a male dumbo octopus says "Here's some sperm, use this whenever works for you" it's cute and endearing, but when I do it, they tell me, "the sperm bank is next door." 😠
