Throughout its history, Donut's usually been really respectful of all corners of the gearhead community—I'm thinking of classic episodes of Up to Speed (including the one on the PT Cruiser), or how Nolan was covering Formula E years ago—they may look like "Bros" but they've consistently been brothers to every car enthusiast out there, no matter who you are or what you drive.

Maybe Donut can't attract those sorts of sponsors (which would be a separate problem), but this reeks of their Herbs trying to squeeze every last penny out of this channel.

  9. Mid-30s. Took it to a whole new level by drifting the cart with my kid in the seat (seatbelts save lives, folks!). On that note: an unscientific review of the driving characteristics of the shopping carts of the Potomac Yard Shopping Center: - Michaels: twitchy and difficult to control. Prone to understeer. C- - Giant: metal carts, well maintained. Excellent balance of handling and carrying capacity. A - Best Buy: The pickup truck of the shopping cart world. Slow and lumbering. D+ - Target: Perfect weight distribution. Carries momentum well through corners and easy to kick into truly EPIC drifts. Scared the literal 💩 out my kid on more than one occasion. More fun than King's Dominion. A+++

  10. NASCAR sponsors wish they had the money to sponsor F1. F1 sponsors wish their series didn't race in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and (to a lesser extent) the EU and Australia. Explicitly because of the hard line those countries take on the advertising of tobacco (historically), alcohol (varying) and crypto (recently).

The batteries themselves still had about 50% charge.

Musk's strategy of training a driving AI based on millions of hours of sensor data collected from his customers has resulted in a model *that drives like a Tesla driver*. You see this sort of thing all the time in machine learning. Remember that resume screening project that selected candidates for jobs at Amazon because they were white men... since that's the sort of people who were already working on Amazon?

Could still have been the electric one (AWD and no forced induction 😂) but the lie that sounded most true was the one about track days, and AFAIK there are no club series for electric Minis. I was thinking Gallardo at the very end but only because I forgot the Huracán was a V10, not a V8 (Aventador is more of a concours car than something you feel good going wheel to wheel with).

  34.  @sategllib2191  It's not really an issue of inflation in the usual sense--it's a symptom of income inequality that the rich can afford to spend ludicrous amounts of money on collectibles and thus inflate those markets (which, btw, are inflated regardless of the currency) as opposed to goods associated with cost of living, which is what inflation generally focuses on. That is not to say that the cost of living hasn't skyrocketed, but even there it's defying usual conventions in that the issue is in the low-ends of the market--there are more luxury apartments than ever in the country while affordable housing stock has basically been erased, and the markets reflect that. I'm quibbling because the usual answers to inflation--raising interest rates--will likely only hurt those who are hurting already without doing much to tamp down the extremes that we're actually experiencing.

Check out any electronics-focused maker channel (start with Great Scott--built his own Tesla PowerWall--and DIY Perks--water-cooled a Canon DSLR) and you'll find examples of folks tearing down and upgrading components in electronic devices, or just swapping in 3D printed or otherwise DIY parts. As long as we have Right to Repair, the electric-modding future looks as bright as the arc from a Tesla coil.

  50. Maybe I've drunk too much Kanban-flavored Kool-aid, but I don't buy that lean/JIT is why we have this crisis. Lean shouldn't mean fragile--in business-speak, it's usually equated with AGILE. Explicitly: If these companies were truly embracing Agile (TM) methodology and, when confronted with an obstacle, would pivot to circumvent the problem. In other words, we'd see more of the approach mentioned at 10:19--not enough processors? Build cars with fewer processors!
