I just needed a visceral analogy, and combining southern drawl¹ with the notoriously slow and low vocalizations of whales was the best I could come up with on the spot. ¹Technically, the Texan drawl isn't even that bad—Louisiana and South Carolina are the slowest. But then again Louis doesn't live in New Orleans or Charleston.
