@the_kombinator Yeah. Even if you're a cishetero white male with thick skin, LTT published a video to their own channel interviewing employees about what it's like to work there, and, even knowing that the video would be public and their bosses would see it, everyone was heavily negative about how overworked they are and how they have no time for retrospectives or fixing systemic issues. Linus is no longer CEO, and it's possible things have changed for the better, but as much as I truly love a lot of their writers (namely the Techlinked team), I wouldn't work for them even if recruited.

@ichijofestival2576 You're minimizing what was clear evidence of a toxic/burnout workplace culture. Are you forgetting that the second Terren took over they put all of LMG on a 1-2 week hiatus to address the concerns raised in the video (in conjunction with the GN exposé)? Don't get me wrong—I absolutely give LMG and Linus props for putting out that video, and it very well could be that things have gotten better since. That would be awesome. My point is still that I don't want to work there.

@the_kombinator If you don't want to watch the GN video: 1. They auctioned off a prototype copper waterblock that the manufacturer had asked be returned, but only after panning the product after testing it on an incompatible GPU and refusing to redo the test (because, Linus said, it would have cost him a few hundred bucks) 2. Their former head of social media was routinely belittled by senior staff, had sexual comments made about her by coworkers, and was ordered to perform demeaning tasks. When she raised complaints to "HR," she was ignored or told she needed to work out the issues directly with her abuser.

Louis, for all the good you do in Right to Repair, the most important lesson you've been teaching is don't trust anyone, at least not 100%, and certainly never uncritically. I don't trust Linus Tech Tips on Linux (or how to run a non-toxic workplace). I don't trust Chris Titus to prioritize facts over clickbait. And I don't trust you when it comes to the harmful effects of Toxoplasmosis gondii¹. I appreciate the work Marques has done lately ridiculing these AI scam products, and I think it's valid that you're calling him out for serving Apple's gaslight machine here. ¹That's the brain parasite that makes rodents—and, many believe, humans—friendlier to cats. It's a joke. Don't worry about it.
