  1. I'm a simple man. I don't need my terminal emulator to be fast or hyper-customizable. But if your terminal is dropping frames, you're doing something terribly wrong. I use the elementaryOS terminal, btw. Even / especially on Arch.

  3. Yeah, the best vts are essentially invisible—they just get out of the way and let you do your magic. Which is why it's really hard to say what you like in a terminal emulator and really jarring when you're using a bad one GNOME terminal one that you're not used to.

  4.  @Koffiato  I hate to say it, but Konsole isn't bad. I got used to it on my Steam Deck, even going as far as adding a launcher for it from Gaming Mode. Still wish I could've gotten elementary terminal working, but I'd rather use Konsole than GNOME terminal or xterm.

  5. I haven't daily driven Windows since XP, so I have to ask: did it ever get any better in Windowsland? I know PowerShell is a thing now, but it's my understanding that's more about the shell than the terminal emulator itself.

  6. Ctrl-Alt-F[2-6] is the fastest terminal—where we're going, we don't need emulators.

  7. Right on. I still have a PS/2 keyboard (and spend a lot of time hunting for PS/2 mobos whenever I upgrade). Even though more than likely the motherboard just uses an internal USB adapter, nothing beats the feeling illusion of inputting straight to the bare metal.
