  1. ​ @lua-nya It was good, though. It did its job and otherwise stayed out of the way. Especially coming off the heels of the bloatfest that was Vista. Then again, take what I say with a grain of salt—I was on Hardy Heron when it dropped and Trusy Tahr when it was discontinued, so I only ever used it in a VM.

Terminal emulator slander would be fun. - kitty: Your GPU can't even run CS:GO smoothly, but you're darn well getting 240fps running fastfetch - xterm: your system has 256GB of RAM and 2TB of swap, and you need every last kibibyte - konsole / GNOME terminal: you just need some place to paste that command you found on reddit - powershell: you didn't understand the prompt

  7.  @robnobert  Oh, 💯 it was unfairly maligned. Part of the issue was that a lot of laptops that were sold as "Vista Ready" really weren't. But also: why should it be reasonable that every new version of an OS have higher and higher system requirements?

  10. Yeah, (we) Arch users are all about bragging that we climbed Everest (even though it's essentially a tourist trap these days and K2—aka Gentoo—is the actual challenge), while Nix folk are more like door-to-door proselytizers, trying to spread the Good News about their cult.

You're tired of Choice Paralysis and just want your system set up by someone else as they whisper UX into your ear. You want your machine to work out of the box... because want to never leave that box.
