Star Trek: The Animated Series (which is super underrated, btw) has an episode revolving around Kukulkan, who is seriously pissed at humanity, having given early humans the city plan for Teotihuacan along with a puzzle that, once solved, would summon him to return. In an inverse of the whole, "non-European empires must have been bootstrapped by aliens" trope, it's revealed that the pre-Aztecs executed his plan but didn't trigger his return because, frankly, they didn't need him. It's a great episode of the great show that's even more impressive for having been written in the mid-1970s.
