  2. People attacking this comment clearly don't understand the difference between pessimism and nihilism. Pessimism is saying, "Hey, I anticipate this going horribly wrong," and thus pessimists will often seek to make things less bad. Nihilists, on the other hand, utterly dismiss any consequences, especially negative ones, in this example saying, "Who cares if the plane crashes? We're all going to be dead in 100 years anyway."
