Two factors at play: - 90% of the uses for a microcontroller do not require close to the full power of the microcontroller, and 50% of the remaining 10% already have a hyper-efficient upython library that you can leverage for those fiddly bits - The ability to prototype or debug your code in real time with zero iteration time via the REPL is the language's "killer app."
