Of course he feels "liberated," as do many (probably most) of those who decide to leave the Church. It's because they no longer have to feel the pressure of having to meaure up to standards that the world is telling them, they don't need to measure up to. Problem is, if you decide to get your self-worth from the world instead of the Lord, that will be the duration of your self-worth... your own mortality. Don't give up, people.

"That Church leaders need to stop telling queer people like him, that they need to change... and failed to accept him as God made him to be." So, however we find natural selves, since God made us that way, it wouldn't be right to try and change? The Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about CHANGE, not just for those with same gender attraction, but for ALL.

@pleasepleasethebees There's something "wrong" with all of us or, in other words, the natural man is an enemy to God, and that part of ourselves needs to be overcome if we're to be able become like Him. Probably the reason why you and I see tithing (and other things) differently is because it's just easier to be cynical of what you decided to give up on (if the Church is false and a fraud, then yes, tithing is a scam. Or, if it's true, then tithing is a priviledge and an opportunity to overcome my natural self). Not everyone is cut out for Eternal Life but it doesn't mean the "vehicle" to help us in that process is wrong. Btw, I didn't realize I was a member of a country club. I'll start looking for the pool. Thanks for the tip.

@pleasepleasethebees I think you're getting caught in the "branches" rather than the fundamental truth. If the Church of Jesus Christ is a fraud then even asking for a penny or a second from it's members wouldn't be right ("But doesn't the Church still do some good in the world?" Yes, but if it were based on a fraud, I would find something else). Often people feel mistreated if they don't believe the premise in the first place. If you don't believe, then anything asked of you would be a burden. Just like with people. If you look for the bad, expecting (and hoping) to find it, you surely will. On the other hand, if you believe as I do, that this truly is Christ's restored Church, then I'm looking for the good (and finding it).

@factsandtutorials1452 We care because of what we believe about the purpose of life and that we're all to try and help each other believe and overcome their weaknesses and "natural" selves in order to return to God. Btw, it's often NOT that they don't believe anymore. It's that continuing to believe affects their perception of their self-worth. They leave in order to find a new worldly source for their self-worth.
