  1. At best it was a clear case of misunderstanding than mis-management because in Islamic Culture and Traditions THE SOFA IS A MUCH HIGHER PLACE FOR A GUEST THAN A CHAIR. After all, she was honoured and respected at the highest level at every stage of her visit. It shouldn't be misinterpreted otherwise.

  2. If indeed the EU takes such a view on seating arrangements then the EU's Charles Michel should be the one to be blamed squarely for not offering his Chair to his Lady Colleague knowing the sensitivities of EU culture and traditions.

  3. Surely Turkish Diplomats visiting the EU would FEEL MORE HONOURED AND RESPECTED if offered Sofas instead of Chairs because Sofas definitely project a much higher profile of hospitality than upright and stubborn chairs. That would be appreciated with a higher sense of gratitude. No fuss at all.
