Seems you missed the Allied Bombing of German Industries, Spread out German Air Force and Navy, oil embargo, and the blockage before 1944. Those effort plus lend lease did save USSR from the edge of destruction.

They might even be able to Sealion Leningrad. Furthermore, no battle of the Atlantic means less sorty and less U-boat, more steel and fuel for the Eastern front 2. Not in Stalingrad. Furthermore, less sorty and less AA defence means more fuel and 88 on the Eastern front. 3. There will be no such turning point if the US and UK keep selling fuel for trucks and trains to Germany. 4. Without the assistance of the Western Allied, those tens of millions of actual boots would die in starvation, capture or slaughter by the German driving US trucks burning US fuel. Yes, their part is important, but they cannot win the war alone without the Western Allied, whether you like it or not.

Those 4% Soviet War production lend lease material (except the weaponaries) can sell to Germany instead, if US and UK stayed neutral. The US could choose to sell oil to the Germans, and the UK could choose to make peace and lift up the blockage. The brunt of defeating Germany was the collaborative effort of the USSR and the Western Allies.

@spyczech Stalin was very open in his deeds. The reasoning behind most of the atrocities during the Stalin era was officially documented. It seems [open hatred and genocidal intent of the Germans] is much less evil than advocating the hate against and purging people that previously owned land, believed in different ideologies and religions, and committing genocide, forcing relocating and eliminating the culture and language of different ethnic groups. For the intention, perverting a noble ideology about freedom and self-determination to justify your totalitarian and oppressive system seems to be more evil than creating a totalitarian and oppressive system out of an ideology about serving your own interests; at least the latter one is more honest than the former one.

@spyczech ⁠ Score counting means quantification, without quantified evidence, your argument is no more than just your personal opinion. Secondly, every USSR atrocities committed in Stalin era is endorsed by Stalin, there is nothing acts against those values of the ideal. Those atrocities are the exactly representation and extension of the ideal of Stalinism.

@spyczech As a published historian and this is your best argument to argue Nazism is more evil than Stalinism? Even using your logic, killing millions in the name of good intentions is way more evil than killing millions in the name of their own interests, because at least the latter one is being honest, while the first one is lying. I would really want to hear a published historian’s analysis regarding the social movements and say the stated goals and resulting actions behind the national operations of the NKVD during the Great Purge with relative objectiveness. What kind of good intentions, freedom and self-determination would end up in the mass execution of millions of ethnic minorities within the USSR?

You are actually the one who is just immature and lazy to dismiss the validity of death numbers and call it a day. Back to your intention argument, it seems you implied that Stalinism is less evil because Stalin’s USSR atrocities could have been committed out of good intentions and bad circumstances. With your logic where kill counts is dismissible, I don’t think you can firmly claim that Stalinism is less evil than Nazism, if there is one Stalinist atrocities not committed out of good intentions. Again, as a published historian, may you kindly analysis the good intention and stated goals of the National Operation of NKVD and Dekulakization, which both happened before WWII?

⁠ @spyczech ⁠ Your whole argument is dismissing the number is a valid reason to make that a question of debate. No one in this thread but you firmly claimed that the Nazi is more evil one and this conclusion is not debatable. If you really want to compare how common Nazi and Stalin Atrocities actually were. Cleaning J people is much more common than cleansing peasants who owned over 3 ha (8 acres) of land or actively purging people of different nationalities without any pre established stigma or not as a retaliation.
