@user78405 Taiwan is the fifth largest net creditor country with 1.37 trillion invested in other countries, the foreign reserve in Taiwan more than 500 bn, Taiwan has only 200 bn debt, how can a country with 2 trillion on hand and 200 bn debt go bankrupt?

@nukezat , the wet etching in lithography was developed by Burn. J. Lin, the deputy general manager of TSMC, which makes ASML surpass Nikon and Cannon, Taiwanese, contributed many breakthroughs in chip technology. EUV was developed in F12 of TSMC; an Engineer from TSMC is still in charge of the research in ASML.
4
@TheBooban Net profit of TSMC has estimated at around 30 bn this year, and the growth rate is about 20%.
3
@ClockworksOfGL , The chip manufacturing in TSMC, has only 10% using technologies from the US. The ban on selling to Huawei is causing TSMC to lose 20 billion business from China per year; Huawei is a client of the same size as Apple. By the time TSMC makes 2 nm, all technologies will have nothing to do with the US. When TSMC starts selling to China, TSMC is booming again.
3
@tooltalk What kind of protection are you mentioning? The US protects its semi industry by using political power. That is why Japan fall from dominating the chip industry, almost zero chip production in Japan now
3
@mycelia_ow Subsidy from Taiwan? Are you kidding? What a lie
3
It never started in the US. So why is the saying "bring it back" mean?
2
@torpedospurs If Huawei still can buy from TSMC, Apple will be taking up a much smaller percentage.
2
Very true.
2
Samsung 5 nm is equivalent to 7 nm from TSMC
1
If Intel is doing so well, why is Intel ordering over 10 bn from TSMC?
1
@tedmoss It's true. Everybody knows this.
1
@mycelia_ow There has been no massive subsidy to TSMC; it's made up by Intel to convince the government to give them money.
1
TSMC has been making 3 nm since early this year. However, the news has not been formally released yet. What is more, Samsung said to make 3 nm in 2022.
1
It's a Lab stuff, IBM is bragging, TSMC no doubt has 2 nm in the lab, but lab to the production line is a way long distance
1
@gichirou7018 TSMC started making 3 nm early this year for X(can't name it) company, mass production(over 100000 wafers per month) will be in the latter half of 2022.
1
If not for TSMC and Foxconn, Apple wouldn't be where it is now. Face ID, Touch Screen technologies are all provided by TSMC and Foxconn.
1
TSMC uses less than 10 % of technologies from the US; by the time TSMC makes 2 nm, 100% of technologies will have nothing to do with the US. TSMC can start selling cutting-edge chips to China, TSMC will boom again, yes, you can force TSMC to deliver data, but you will regret it later. Deeply regret.
1
That is why Taiwan can't trust the US. TSMC should work faster to develop 100% of its own technologies; by the time TSMC makes 2 nm, all technologies will have nothing to do with the US, the sanction has caused TSMC to lose 20 bn business from China, Tsmc will be booming when selling 2 nm chips to China.
1
That is why TSMC should fast develop its own technology to make the chip. Now TSMC uses 10 % of US technologies. By the time TSMC makes 2 nm, there will not be any technologies from the US; TSMC can start selling chips to China then, the sanction to Huawei and other China companies has caused TSMC to lose 20 billion per year.
1
3 nm already on production in May.
1
@anonymous one Tell Intel to withdraw the 10 bn deal from TSMC. Since Intel is doing so well.
1
Definitely, it is due to the yield rate of TSMC being double of its competitors.
1
NIL technology is replacing EUV soon, ASML will soon not be crucial in making chip
1
Why will science breakthroughs need the US to allow? Intel just failed to innovate. That's the reason.
1
It's only 10 % relates to US technology now, soon 100% will have nothing to do with the US, it's good to know the US is not our friend, we should stand with China.
1
Samsung used EUV ahead of TSMC but it’s still behind TSMC in cutting edge chip, why is EUV the critical reason for Intel’s lagging behind in advanced manufacturing?
1
@anonymous one Intel is buying chip that worth 10 bn from TSMC, funny.
