Yep. He's jumped the shark here. His bias is overwhelming him. I actually used to to really like and defend Harris but he is now so close thematically to the likes of Jordan Peterson and even Dave Rubin that I find him infuriating most of the time. Just compare this exculpating analysis about white supremacists with his straightforward exegesis on what motivates ISIS as set out in their magazine Dabiq, in their article "Why we hate you and why we fight you". I actually think he was right about ISIS. As he said "when they tell you their motives, you should believe them". But then when it comes to white supremacists, he does this screeching 180 and applies a risible double standard, and says "when they tell you their motives, assume they are just trolling you,... while they kill dozens of people". Trolling. Sam, you are either a moron or you are consciously minimising a cult of ethnic hatred. Get some fucking courage and lose the arrogant superiority over the left, which you simultaneously claim to be part of but then assassinate at every single opportunity.

There was another great example of how terrible big unfunded tax cuts are in real life. Last year in the UK, the government announced large tax cuts for those on the highest incomes which put a huge hole in the budget. It was done, purely ideological exactly for all the reasons that neoliberals love. It completely tanked the economy overnight. Interest rates went up 3%. The currency fell 15% against the dollar. The markets lost confidence overnight and the Prime Minister and Chancellor were both gone within six weeks. So if even the capital markets hate this policy then why the hell is anyone still pushing it?

The laughing works for me. I have to say, the chanting less so. The Trump admin are literally doing everything in their power to destroy the US and world environment for money. They know they have 4 years to smash and grab everything they can and they aren't wasting a second. They all deserve prison as soon as they are out of power.

Yep. I have a great recipe for Chili with beans and mushrooms and chipotle chilli. The mushrooms have great texture for that kind of thing 👍

Looking back on this clip, it still holds up so well. Ash is just brilliant. I love her and this was one of her finest moments. The derision in her voice when she says "I'm literally a communist!" is devastating.

Amen 2 years vegan and would not go back if you paid me.

@bengence_688 well done for demonstrating that you haven't a clue what communism is.

23:45 is this parody? The U.S. never had a care for human rights or democracy in foreign countries! You can't "reinstate" something that never existed. And she knows that. The only thing that has changed is how obvious that fact is now.

Sebastian R So what? His motivation was white supremacy and xenophobia. His trolling is his style, not his substance. Just like ISIS chant and pray when they decapitate people.
2
Sebastian R People can think two things at the same time. And in this case, they sent even mutually exclusive. The guy clearly had animus against Muslim immigrants. He clearly thought that violence was justified. I am not saying he was a religious fanatic, obviously. I am saying he was deeply motivated by a xenophobic ideology. The fact that he blended that and expressed it with trolling online culture doesn't remove his ideology.

Yeah and just like Nancy Pelosi who was progressive once, she will do it by selling out everyone and everything.

4:08 there was a "b" coming in what Bill was about to say. Probably "if you get attacked, you get to... beat the sht out of the other guy" or something like that.

Apparently Tim does know what a halo is either. Silly Timmy...

7:38 funny you say that when everything you have done for the last six years has shown that you have been doing the exact opposite. You have consistently given up all of your power in an obvious attempt to appease the party establishment who equally obviously will never ever ever accept you into the hierarchy and will always do their very best to ensure that your movement never goes anywhere.

14:48 lol not even the whole progressive caucus supported you! Wow, you are so cucked out...

The "Hillary stole the primary" meme came from social media campaigns by the Russians. This is documented now. As did the meme that Hillary didn't represent blacks and Latinos. Or that the best thing to do for Democrats who didn't like Hillary was to sit out the election. That's part of why 5 million Democratic voters from 2012 didn't vote for the Democrat in 2016.

Wanna know what really sucks? This segment was supposed to be Katherine Hayhoe, the co-author of the NCA report but CNN bumped her for the lying science denier, Rick Santorum. Shitty choice - thanks CNN. So responsible. But please keep feeding your audience known dangerous bullshit.

The lie is that Thiel has (rightly) admitted that capitalism isn't compatible with democracy. So "making an argument" and "convincing people" are irrelevant. The people who are making the decisions are not susceptible to the will of the people, so you could convince as many people as you liked that M4A or something similar was the way forward. It wouldn't matter because neither party would offer it.

Corey Ander I just don't hear that in what Sam said. Sorry. I heard him citing the 8chan stuff as a deflection from the white supremacy stuff. I heard him downplaying the white supremacy and highlighting the online trolling culture as the main motivating force. I don't doubt that there is a general degeneration of social norms and decency in these forums. That's plain to see. But it requires a confluence of that destruction of social norms AND an motivating ideology to make acts like this happen. That's always the case. That was the case with the rise of hateful and violent political movements in the past. We look back and see (for an easy example) antisemitism motivating the holocaust. But when you look, you also see the dehumanising and the callous cruelty creeping onto the discourse long before the concentration camps. 8chan culture is creating that cruelty and it's being pointed at non-whites and immigrants. When Sam focuses on the troll culture, he is missing the necessary demonisation of a community to victimise. Anyway, it's all vile and I wish Sam would just notice that he is not helping fight white supremacist ideology with his anodyne discourse that treats people like ultra rational machines. It's the biggest flaw in his understanding of culture and politics. "If only they could be given the right facts and arguments" he thinks. You will never to get to the right answers with that outlook.
