The expected response to NATO shooting down Russian jets in Ukraine would be for Russia to launch a tactical nuclear weapon at the Ramstein Air Base where the US has many of its air forces stationed in Europe. Just imagining waking up to the news that this has happened and knowing that the most likely response to that would be the US firing a tactical nuclear weapon at the Russian base where its aircraft are taking off from. Then imagine having to face the reality that you and everyone you know might die in the next 24 hours as the exchange escalates, along with hundreds of millions of other people. Imagine facing that knowing that there is *absolutely nothing you can do but wait to die*. That is what people demanding a no-fly-zone have to get into their heads.
