Nice to see that the government is fine intervening on the side of corporations but doesn't even consider intervening on the side of workers.

@jeremyrangel8138 Calling names doesn't win arguments. There is a tiny flaw in your plan. You have to have other employers in your area who are willing to pay more and provide better conditions. In the real world, employers will use their buying power for labor to suppress wages and conditions. It's in their direct interest to do so. Minimum wages exist because otherwise wages fall to poverty levels which has the medium term impact of wrecking the economy by suppressing aggregate demand. This is what caused the Great Depression. Things like weekends and a ban on child labor didn't happen because capitalists decided they wanted to make them to happen. For a couple of centuries under capitalism, people routinely worked 7 days a week and children worked in factories. These things were ended because government banned them under intense pressure from organised labor. I am an employer btw. I employ 35 people. But I am still a socialist because I have a more cleared eyed understanding of how capitalism works than you. I used to be moderately conservative, then my life experiences showed me that the immense propaganda behind capitalism is self-serving bs. We can and must do better.

@jeremyrangel8138 Then capitalists would run everything entirely to their own advantage. Ie workers world have no rights, there would be no paid leave, kids would be working in mines, unions would be illegal, etc etc
