It's not human nature. It's the system we live under. It's the greed and callousness of the powerful specifically. Our system gives power to the worst people. So the cycle of destruction goes round and round. We need to change the system to one that actually works for the vast majority of ordinary people, not a tiny oligarchic elite.

The average rate of increase – about 0.2 inches or 5 millimeters per year – is expected to more than double by 2100, and is already 1.5 times faster than the global average. Sea level in coastal areas, or relative sea level, is projected to rise 8 inches (20 centimeters) or more by 2050 and perhaps another 20 to 40 inches (1/2 to 1 meter) by the end of the century."

@chairman823 they are directly measuring sea level from satellites in orbit. If you don't work in Earth Sciences or climatology or a related field, I'm afraid you are entirely unqualified to challenge the science published on this by academics who literally spend their whole lives studying it. So just save us all a lot of wasted breath, please just accept that your gut is wrong and the science is right.
