@@Zab10 people are people first. Singling out one group for special treatment and denying them their rights as people is discriminatory and usually bigoted. What other countries do is their problem. India has its own duties and principles to defend.

@brAmbedkarvadheemusalmaan Muslims also get persecuted in Muslim countries. There are several sects of Islam and they don't get on (Sunni, Shia, yazidi, Sufi, etc)

@brAmbedkarvadheemusalmaan you can be a minority within a majority. The only thing that matters is if they need refuge from persecution. Their humanity comes first.

@brAmbedkarvadheemusalmaan the people fleeing persecution had nothing to do with partition and they have power to change anything now. They are just people needing help and many non-Muslim Indians have been persuaded to forget that and instead dehumanise them so they be ignored or mistreated. If you ever desperately need help in the future, do you want people checking your religion first to see if you qualify?

@brAmbedkarvadheemusalmaan you are missing the point completely. Muslims seeking refuge now were not even alive at the time of partition. Stop blaming innocent people for the actions of politicians 80 years ago. As for Muslim minorities, did you not see what happens to yazidis under ISIS in Iraq? They are people first. They deserve compassion and help just like any other person.

@artschool673 Modi has Form of course. He has been a radical Hindu supremacist all his career. He has obvious antipathy for Muslims. The problem is that so many are so easily swept along by the crowd, becoming persuaded by obviously stupid arguments.

@brAmbedkarvadheemusalmaan ok I don't know how to tell you this but you have been made to fear Muslims by your government for political and ideological purposes. When you are scared and angry at vulnerable and needy people (it could be Muslims, gay people, black people, immigrants in general, the poor, really anyone), then you are distracted from the abuses of power my the people who actually have power in your society. It's a political strategy called "divide and rule". It's very very old, it's very ugly and it often ends in terrible tragedies like the holocaust. Just imagine how Germans in the 1930s were made to think of Jews. They were so scared of them that that went along with a campaign of mass murder. This can only happen when people are made to ignore the humanity of another group of people. Unfortunately this is how you are thinking of Muslims. You no longer recognise them as real people who may be in desperate need of help. You are seeing them as "other", as scary, as Muslim BEFORE they are human. This is a very dark place to be. I recommend you stop listening to the fear mongering and hate and remember that everyone is human first - just like me, just like you.

@brAmbedkarvadheemusalmaan we are talking about refugees seeking protection from persecution in a neighbouring country, not national partition. You are treating individual men, woman and children in desperate need for safety like an invasion force. They are anything but. You are either irrationally paranoid (due to the rabid anti Muslim propaganda being spewed by the government and media) or you just don't want to share the country with more Muslims for reasons of prejudice. If you just don't like Muslims then there is no basis for a conversation. If you genuinely fear desperate people fleeing persecution then you have to question how you were made to feel that way. It's not an accident.
