  1. Many countries in the global south have been on the wrong end of American imperialism over the last 70 years. I think this time is unique in how many people in the global north are no longer buying the propaganda. We now see the lies, the brutality and the cruelty and we have actually learned to care about victims that our governments want us to ignore. This is an extremely important shift in our society and the dynamics of US imperialism. They can't get away with it anymore. We have realised that the spin is lies and our governments are doing despicable things. Of course it's horrific for the Palestinians, but their great suffering really does mean something this time.

  2. The Palestinians lost 78% of their land in 1948 and now most what was left has been settled by Israel. There are equal numbers of Palestinians and Jewish Israelis in the whole area. There are another 5 million Palestinians with the right to return under international law. I think Likud succeeded in making a 2-state solution unviable. I think a 1-state solution is probably the only option now. It will take a while, but Israel has lost the consent of nearly the whole world now. Sure some governments still back it, but that's like South Africa in the 70s. Eventually public opinion forced governments to drop their backing for apartheid and the apartheid regime gave up. I think the same could well happen here in 10-20 years.

  4. And take a look at the history of the US specifically. Depending on your definition, since 1776, it has only NOT been fighting a war overseas for 20 of those years.
