  1. That slogan is propaganda. The police are the violent enforcement wing of state power. And state power often doesn't serve the people in that state. The correct version of that slogan would be "Protect and serve established wealth and power"

  2. The police are not your friend. They are not there to serve you. They freely admit as much. They are there to "serve the crown", which means to serve and enforce state power. Not you and your rights.
