  3. Peace You are absolutely right that a diverse and competitive market us better than a concentrated oligopoly. But unfortunately it's in the nature of free market, lightly regulated capitalism to create monopolies or oligopolies. That why they keep arising. Even if you have antitrust laws and regulations, as soon as capitalism starts to loose its constraints, the first thing companies do is lobby to weaken antitrust regulation, precisely so they can further consolidate market power and political control. Capitalism is constantly in conflict with both a stable well functioning economy and genuine democracy. And every time we think we have got it's massive problems under control, it proves us wrong.
