That was the situation before 1971 everyone recognized ROC government in Taiwan but nobody recognized PRC in mainland China or had any diplomatic relations with them and even USA made it illegal for its citizens to travel to PRC But eventually the worlrealized that it was impractical and started to recognize PRC as China one by one including USA in 1978

@yipzoe3865 The British were so happy to get rid of Hong Kong and have no intention of wanting it back It was a buden on the British government since the 1970's which is why they started to negotiate a handover in the 1980's and finally got rid of it in 1997 Chinese government will just flood the city with millions of loyal civilians who will become the majority soon thus most of the residents will be pro China within years You can either submit or leave

@yipzoe3865 There will be no independent Hong Kong or British rule again By 2047 the last shred of autonomy the city has will be gone and Hong Kong will be for ever Chinese and under CCP rule for at least centuries If you want British rule you can just move to England Life in London is nice

@yipzoe3865 There's a reason why UK gave Hong Kong to PRC It's a burden and not worth it for them Hong Kong is China and if you don't like it then move to UK No government in UK wants it back as it's too much trouble and brings no benefit to the country Besides a city of 7 millions can easily be diluted with few millions out of 1.4 billions people and thus the majority of the city population will want to be part of China In fact that's exactly what is happening currently

@yipzoe3865 Because the Amur river makes the best border and because areas beyond it have never been considered Chinese even before the treaty The Qing never had real authority there during their rule unlike Hong Kong or Macau or the areas taken by Japan

At least you are smart and decent enough to not waste your time in Hong Kong and found a place to live in where you feel comfortable and better
