By 2019 Taliban controlled 20% of Afghanistan and getting rid of them was no longer possible They could've prolonged the war but more American troops and Afghans would die as result Eventually the US people and military and budget got tired and they had to withdraw It's easy for you to talk because you are living thousands of miles away in your safe house Those veterans were tired and lived in horror and wanted an end to this
