There's good reason the US relies on jets for 80% of its military operations and Russia still has hundreds of fighter jets Why would Russia waste money building hundreds of jets and training pilots and maintaining the jets if hypersonic missiles are better option ? Fighter jets make sure there is no stalemate and the current very slow moving frontline is the result of both sides not having airforce capable of obliterating the enemy defensive lines
