  1. Because American food is garbage. Just for one example, look at the research that Harvard did on high-fructose corn syrup, which is in practically everything. The food manufacturers have so much clout with the government that they were able to get the labeling rules changed so that they don't have to list hfcs as such! Putting hfcs in our food ought to be prosecuted as mass murder.
