Trump WAS a last ditch effort to save America. He was a Hail Mary pass. I knew that in 2016. He was our only shot. Unfortunately it was good enough. Right from the start, he allowed lower courts without jurisdiction to stop him from exercising his Constitutional powers when other presidents did not. He allowed his agencies to harass his friends mercilessly. He put his avowed enemies not only into the White House as advisers but also into seats of great power and let them stay there (still scratching my head over that one). He paid for it and we're sunk.

@eirikurnafnendringur3327 There is nobody in politics such as you describe except perhaps Rand Paul. And after the Democrats spent years "fortifying" the election process all over the US specifically to stop any chance of another non-Democrat winning the White House, it's a moot point. They've demonstrated that they own Congress, every government agency, SCOTUS, nearly every lower court, and most of the governors. Outside of a literal miracle or an apocalypse, the Democrats own this country from now on, forever, as long as this country still exists.

@stupendous7848 France is a tiny country. It has less bureaucracy than one American state. It's political set up is entirely different. France's government can turn on a dime; the US government is a juggernaut that once pointed in a direction takes Heaven and all its angels to stop.
