According to film-set protocol, and film armorers have stated this, the final responsibility IS on the armorer, not the actor. Actors aren't supposed to check the guns because it's the responsibility of the licensed gun expert on the set. The armorer is required to keep the guns locked up when not being used on set; maintain custody of the guns at all times; check each gun and hand it personally to the actor; ensure that live rounds never enter the question. She didn't do any of that. Actors are never held responsible for these occurrences, at least in the US; if they were, the laws governing the use of guns on sets would be much more like the laws for you and me, but they aren't. That's the reality. And yes, Alec Baldwin is a twit and worse, but at the end of the day, none of this would have happened if the armorer had done any part of her job. Btw, if you're going to blame him as a producer, at least be honest and blame all 13 of the producers.
