@jamesricker3997 That isn't how viruses mutate. Scarlet fever used to be deadly. I personally knew two people when I was in elementary school had permanent heart damage from it. By the time my kids were born, scarlet fever had mutated to a very mild illness. Viruses mutate to infect more people but risk killing them less; it's a virus survival trait. When they kill the host, they have less chance of spreading and multiplying.
