Actors aren't even allowed to check the guns because of liability. It's a lot more likely that an actor would cause an incident, hurting themselves and others, while unloading and reloading a gun to check it than letting the professional do it.

  8. That's totally false. Actors are NEVER held responsible in these cases because they are legally prohibited from checking the guns. If an actor checks the gun, the law requires that the ARMORER take the gun away from the actor, recheck the gun, and then hand it back to the actor with a lecture on not checking the gun. The armorer is the legally responsible expert on the set. It was her job, and only her job, to maintain the safety of all firearms and ammo used on the set.
