Are you kidding? Of course they don't check the guns. That's why the armorer position is so important and why the armorer is legally responsible, not the actors. Actors aren't even allowed to check the guns because of liability. It's a lot more likely that an actor would cause an incident, hurting themselves and others, while unloading and reloading a gun to check it than letting the professional do it.

Look at it this way: actors are usually moronic, drug-addled alcoholics with the emotional maturity of a small child. Neither the insurance companies nor the film companies want the actors messing with the guns.
