  1. You were waaayyy off on your criticism of the Pilgrim costume. Just for one thing, they did NOT wear lace collars like the aristocratic Europeans, so her plain collar wasn't far off, although those collars normally closed in the front and weren't solid circles. Not only were the original Pilgrims much too poor to wear lace, which was extremely expensive since it was all handmade, the stern Puritans who followed them to America made it illegal to wear lace or other such frills.   2. Actually, Queen Elizabeth had thousands of gowns in her wardrobe when she died and the clothing of her court was well documented. So we know what they wore every day. That said, ordinary aristocrats probably didn't wear court dress at home on their country estates every day, any more than modern aristocrats do.
