Maybe not yet. Income tax started out that way too. Only the very rich paid it. What about now, hm?

The omicron variant shows that the virus is becoming less and less dangerous. The South African experts said outright that the variant has very light symptoms. So of course, governments have to seize the opportunity to enslave the people again.

@jirehguy It's been proven that you're mistaken. If a high-earning couple has to pay more taxes than it's worth for both to keep working, the wife quits. Or they move out of the country. And/or they move their money out of the country. And they stop investing.

Probably depends on the area. In my area, almost no house sells for the asking price, at least not the first asking price. Many homeowners lower the asking price 2 or 3 times, and by a lot more than $10k.

Your county determines how much THEY think your house is worth, and that determines your property tax. What your government says and what you can sell for may be very different. The government doesn't normally reevaluate property values very often, sometimes just once every ten years.

They should have. The omicron variant is a pretty good mutation. At worst it's like a cold. We would all be better off if it spread.

Then you negotiate. If that doesn't work, walk away. If you can't walk away, you've already lost.

That's a good thing; that's how viruses become less and less dangerous. The omicron variant is close to asymptomatic; the worst cases have been like a cold.

Why would they do that? If paying for restaurant food freaks them out that much, why not just go to the grocery store and buy the ingredients to make it themselves?

You don't unless you have other forms of income or a huge bank account.

Toronto isn't the whole world. Move.

The Federal Reserve controls the money supply. It doesn't matter who actually prints the physical bills.

Capitalism is me trading something you want for something I want. That's innate. You can't stop people from doing it. The monetary system is the manmade system that uses X to trade so that everyone knows what your stuff is worth and so that multi-party trading is easy. If you have something I want but I don't have anything you want, I can trade you my money for your stuff and then you can trade that money with that guy over there for his stuff that you want. That's Capitalism.

I don't get it. The omicron variant is almost asymptomatic in most people and the South African experts said outright that symptoms were very light, so the world goes nuts and entire countries lock down again? When will people figure out that it isn't about health?
