  3. Really? Have you been living under a rock? Every decision that allows more power to the government takes power from the people. One of the biggest problems, as well, is allowing police and sheriff's departments to operate without oversight. When violations of the law occur, usually only internal investigations are performed. 99.9999% of the time, they find that "department policy was followed." I've known cops locally (small town in the midwest) to get away with murdering unarmed people minding their own business in their own homes.

  4. Btw, if the cops had any idea that he had that kind of cash at home, they would have seized it anyway as probable drug money. You're guilty until proven innocent under the war on drug laws. You can't even deposit more than $10k in the bank without proving where you got it. Ver are your papers?

  5. So what about trying to deposit $82,000 in cash? If you deposit more than $10,000, you have to prove where it came from or the feds confiscate it as drug money. That's the law. So she was just going to waltz into a bank with $82k in cash expecting to deposit it without any questions asked? This was a shiteshow all the way around. There was no way this could end well.

  6. And this sort of thing is exactly why I got a cashier's check instead of carrying cash when I bought a car through private sale in the neighboring town. With my luck, that's when I would get stopped, with $5k in cash on me.
