  2. Don't seal it! You will destroy the value. Wear it against your bare skin, without any perfume or chemicals. The warmth and oils in your skin will make pearls glow.

  3. I have purchased some very nice dyed pearls, but usually the dye dulls the glow of the pearl's surface. They can still be pretty, but it's a choice.

  4. It isn't damaging unless you rub much harder than you need to. I own many pearls; I can tell by touch that they feel slightly gritty; no teeth necessary. If you hold them together in your hand, you can feel the texture of one pearl against another, and it causes no damage whatsoever unless you're a real clutz.

  6. The flats could be "coin" pearls, so called because they are coin shaped. They are often used for earrings or pendants, but I have entire necklaces made of coin pearls. These days, they put the right shape into the shell in order to obtain different shapes of flat pearls: round, square, even heart-shaped.
