  1. My mother-in-law was a public health nurse, a low-level government employee in Iowa. Her government retirement (IPERS) was twice what it would have been if she had ss instead. We're being ripped off. If the state of Iowa can do that much better, there's no excuse for the federal government.

  2. Because you were really funding the retirement of previous generations. It's a ponzie scheme. You pay in for the older generations, and the younger generations pay in for you. The crafters thought that they were being sooo smart, but they didn't plan on lifespans increasing so much, future generations not having children at replacement rates, and their fellow politicians plundering the treasury for their own agenda.
