We were taught in school in the 1970s that Hitler had Jewish blood through his mother; my husband and I thought everybody knew. It's the most ironic thing about Hitler targeting Jews. And this, according to the Jewish Virtual Library: "Hitler had the Nazi law defining Jewishness written to exclude Jesus Christ and himself." If he didn't have Jewish ancestry, why would he do that?

  2. You are ignoring that Jewishness was definitely a race according to the Nazis. That was the basis of their policies. Also, the Jews themselves consider themselves a separate race; the bloodline goes through the mother alone. If someone has a Jewish father by heredity but the mother is not Jewish, then the children of that couple are not part of the Jewish bloodline. You can convert to Judaism, but that doesn't make you part of the heredity bloodline.
