  7. They want to see Russia broken up. That's their goal. They think that Putin wants Europe, as if he couldn't have crushed it if he wanted to. My French sister-in-law is terrified into hysteria that Putin is going to conquer Europe. You can't talk sense to people who can't think logically.

  9. ​ @miaflores66  It's Putin's domestic policies that have made Russia almost entirely self-sufficient, highly industrialized and prosperous, and fortified against every sanction the west has thrown at them. And what you said isn't even true. Russians have been lining up to sign up to fight in Ukraine. They see NATO's incursion into Ukraine as an existential threat, and the Ukraine shelling of Donbas is an attack on Russia's literal relatives. Family. Many Russians wanted to go in years before they did for that reason.

  10. ​ @elmo2800 Putin doesn't want all of Ukraine. Many political analysts also believe that he's fighting a war of attrition, meaning that his goal is to drain the west of money and weapons. He's nearly there. All of NATO is drained of military hardware and we have no way of replacing it quickly. Russian factories, on the other hand, are set up to switch over to 100 percent military hardware manufacturing within 24 hours notice. They have vast stockpiles of weapons. He could have taken Ukraine any time he wanted, but that isn't the goal.

  14. No, Jesus is correct. Many Russians wanted to go in years earlier because the government of Ukraine has been shelling the eastern part of Ukraine since 2014. The Russians and the eastern Ukrainians in Donbas are literally relatives. There's a street in St. Petersburg that's lined with the photos of children killed by the Ukraine government. It's called the Street of Angels.
