  1. Regarding sugar cubes: I kept them on hand for when my children got hiccups. Sugar relaxes the stomach muscles and cures hiccups. My mother used to give me soft peppermint candy when I was sick with a stomach bug for the same reason. When my cat had stomach problems, I gave him a teaspoon of water with a bit of sugar mixed in and it worked.

  3. Who are you trying to kid? All along, western governments were certain that sanctions would destroy the entire Russian economy within weeks of enacting them. They said so out loud! They were bragging that the Russian people would have empty supermarkets, no cars or planes, and no computers or phones. Some people in this comment section are still believing it. Those same governments, however, were woefully ignorant of the great strides that Russia has made to ensure its self-sufficiency and rapid industrialization in the last decade, thanks in large part to Putin's wise domestic policies. It's the west who bit the hand that literally fed it and will find themselves, ourselves, in real trouble come the winter and the next harvest.

  4. Sanctions and giving our weapons to Ukraine have demilitarized the west, instead. Now about all we have left is old crap from the 1970s and before, and we don't have the manufacturing capabilities to make more in a timely manner. Europe and the US are down to dragging out old WW2 stuff to send to Ukraine now. Whoopee. And think about it; do you think that Russia and China don't read the news, too?
