  1. The virus is becoming as "deadly" as the common cold and just as prolific. Trying to keep it from spreading at this point is beyond absurd unless you think that we should all be scared out of our minds about a cold.

  2. This IS the recovery. Viruses mutate to spread more readily, which necessarily means that they have to stop killing the host, just as we've seen covid become milder and milder. The more it mutates, the milder it gets. Omicron is as "deadly" as the common cold.

  3. Sure, but that's a good thing. Viruses, including covid, mutate to become more easily spread, which necessarily means that it can't keep killing the host. Therefore viruses become milder over time, just as we are seeing covid variants become milder in real time.

  4. @Hank Lawton Viruses mutate to become LESS deadly because it doesn't benefit them to kill the host. Viruses mutate to spread better, which means that they become less deadly as a survival tactic.
