  2. They're just rubes and yokels. You could hear that guy just started trailed off there. They're to blame for how the world sees them, but not entirely. A good 2/3 of them were simply easily amused. They love him, but say they don't like any parts of his sordid lifestyle.

Unless you don't count metal pipes, baseball bats, flag poles used for bludgeoning, bear pepper spray, 2 pipe bombs, a truck driving around that had firearms and ammo, as weaopns. Not to mention a *noose*, ... dude ... a noose. To hang the vice president on the steps of the capital. Can you see how ... that's just a line normal people don't cross either on their own, or coerced to do it by somebody else. I'm gonna go with the latter because they thought the president would be just behind them, probably pushing people out the way to get to the front where they were. Sad, i know, but it's so much better to cut ties with it now rather than when he and his followers all move to a secluded compound somewhere.
