Was tall and underweight to qualify for Army service but I had 3 years HS ROTC and I got my Congressman to tell whoever that it was a contract, I had fulfilled my obligation and it was too late to tell me no. I entered Basic Training as an E-3. In a baggy uniform. I mention that because wearing the steel pot made me look like a green mushroom. By the way, if you are skinny they make a terrible seat.
