  1. In 1980 I married a woman from the other side of the planet. She was older than I am and far better educated. When she had cleared her J-1 visa and returned she began the process of applying for citizenship while we got on with our lives. After waiting far longer than average for her to be accepted, I went to the immigration office and asked to speak with the a supervisor. I pointed out that I am an Army veteran, we have been married for years, mixing our finances and living together. I waited for almost three years for her to return to me in California and can’t understand why she isn’t being granted citizenship. My wife was told that there would be a swearing in the next day and she was invited. I am convinced that they thought we had a sham marriage and my anger convinced this manager otherwise. And we’re still married.
