  18. The college town where I live in California is a safe place for people to be themselves. For us it's provided acceptance for our mixed marriage and child for 40 years. We fly a gay pride flag rather than an ally flag because it isn't about us. Our gay friends and neighbors appreciate the support. Ironically, I learned not to judge others in church. It's supposed to be a huge sin. But I guess that's not the lesson anymore.
