The draconian laws against keeping a rescued animal are senseless. “Rabies”? How is a pet going to catch rabies? They are no more likely to contract the virus than we are. We found a blinded opossum, 40 years ago, who would have died except for a kind Veterinarian. She treated him and warned us to keep “Kitty” a secret. It was illegal for us to keep him and no rehabilitation place would take him. Fortunately. We had him for two years and he was a big part of our lives. Only close friends and family got to meet him. His lack of eyes was off putting at first. But he was filled with love he wanted to share.
