I remember my first Christmas with my wife. We had been dating for 6 months and I brought her home for Christmas. She is from Thailand and didn’t speak much English. She was a visiting scholar. I knew no one in my family would have a problem with her being Southeast Asian but I was delighted to find everyone absolutely loves her. She and my mom became best friends. Now every Christmas brings me emotionally back to that first wonderful Christmas together, 42 years ago.
