Back in the 1970s and '80s I considered myself a "peace officer". By the time I moved on to nursing most cops considered themselves "LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS!" We went from solving problems to arresting everyone and letting the courts sort it out. We considered an arrest to be a failure. Now an arrest is the goal. Is this better? More fair? Maybe. But the courts are clogged and so are the prisons. Costs are more than we can afford. The US locks up a ridiculous percentage of its population. And the citizens who pay their salaries and are their employers don't trust them. I don't know about you but I'm ready for change and I want nothing less than complete Transparency and Equal treatment.
