  1. Around 1970 I qualified Expert with the M-60 at 14 years old in High School Army ROTC. Along with the M-14 and small bore rifle for the marksmanship team. I maintained my badges (fully authorized for wear when you enlist) and when I graduated from basic training I wore the three tabs allowed from High School, along with my PFC stripes I started with. I got called up to demonstrate the difference between short bursts and long, one day in basic. The DS wasn't too happy when both of my targets came back with tight shot groups. ROTC taught me well. I expected to get sent to Viet Nam all through High School. Nope. When I later got re assigned to West Germany I was made an M-60 gunner but by then I had to re qualify. More than half a century later I'm still having dreams about that weapon.
