  1. My wife and I found a baby boa constrictor. We didn't plan on parenting a snake but this boy turned out to be a central part of the family for his whole life. My son grew up along with the snake. Most of his life he didn't have a cage and slept in our bed with our opossum and cat. He was always gentle and calm.

  2. As one small step, when we bought our house I pulled out a huge amount of lawn and replaced it with fruit trees. All these years later, instead of mowing lawns we’re picking fruit.

  4. I got lucky. When I told my mom I was bringing my girlfriend home for Christmas I mentioned she is from Thailand. My mom said "that's nice, dear". They became very close friends.

  8. I started my Nursing career at a Psychiatric Facility. I participated in administration of ECT. It is incredibly effective for most patients and they are overwhelmingly glad that they volunteered. They NEVER administered ECT to an Un willing patient and most desire additional treatments because it WORKS.

  10. I was a good boy. I hadn’t used anything before joining the Army. I got assigned to a MP unit in the 1970s that used vast amounts of cannabis and I joined in. I have been enjoying cannabis daily ever since.

  13. This isn’t government corruption but… When I first got out of the Army I had a job spinning asparagus seeds to separate out the field bind weed seeds. It was a new variety that was going to be shared among the growers based upon the acreage they already had planted. One d a grower showed up which I thought was strange because I was in the middle of nowhere and I wouldn’t expect anyone to even know I was there or what I was doing. He asked for a tour and eventually he offered me cash for seeds. As much as I could give him. I said no. So he offered me the same amount of money for the waste seeds so he could pick out the asparagus. I told him if he went away immediately I wouldn’t tell my researcher boss who would definitely report it to his coop. He left. That was half a century ago and I enjoy being able to tell the story. I’m glad I made the right decision.

  27. You are unlikely to find love swiping left and right. Or where alcohol is sold. Your best bet is to go out into the world where you can meet people. Sober. Most of my family and friends met their spouses in college. I did.

  28. I know that skunks don't have the best eyesight. I have a yard full of skunks and if you stand still they have no idea you are there until they get within inches. Their surprise is cute.
