Plus you have to factor in that a lot of Chinese made products have always been cheap junk that breaks almost as soon as you purchase it. Buying cheap Chinese goods is often false economy. Our business has been in the process of diversifying away from China for some time now. Many others are doing the same. The result will be the US becoming richer and China becoming poorer and less able to fund their military aspirations.

I recall watching a video of street interviews with AZE people a few months back and asked who they prefer between Russia and the EU, a few said the EU. None said Russia. But the vast majority of them stated they wanted to be part of a Turkic block led by Turkiye. Is Turkish influence going to rise as a result of the latest events rather than Russia's? So even if the Russian insurer has a trillion dollars, I don't think that eliminates a key part of the risk. Russia is the primary risk and it is a rogue state now. They do not adhere to any international laws or conventions that they don't wish to. My bet is no-one would ever get an insurance payout. There's just too many ships that will need to be escorted and the Russian escort ships will be sitting ducks. Also, by being escorted by the Russian navy, those oil and grain ships will become legitimate military targets for Ukraine. Ukraine should follow through on this immediately. So the government will not collect any tariff revenue from those items. To make up for those losses in revenue they will need to raise the tariff to 100%. But then the same thing would happen again.   356. I think Peter is being too pessimistic in this video. Firstly, Russia does not have millions of pieces of military equipment. It's probably down to its last 1000 usable tanks and less than 500 effective aircraft. It's a middle level power at best. If what Peter claims is true, why does Russia need ammo from North Korea and drones ftom Iran? And if he's right about the Western military industrial complex being able to provide lots of weapons and ammo in the second half of 2024, then Russia is in massive trouble because the West can produce orders of magnitude more than Russia. Also, it will all be modern and precision guided. Shortly after that, Russia would be overwhelmed. Also, Russia needs to have 10 times more than Ukraine because their weapons lack precision. A case in point is HIMARS vs regular Russian artillery. In July last year the Russians trolls were making fun of Ukraine regarding HIMARS. How could 18 HIMARS have any effect against thousands of Russian artillery pieces? Answer: longer range and precision. And that was without ATACMS. In the end, Russia has a lot of old largely usesless junk and Ukraine is getting more and more modern, precision weapons. Ukraine is getting stronger by the day and Russia is getting weaker by the day. Lastly, regarding Russia's military history. Yes, what Peter says is true. But it's against far smaller and weaker opponents who did not have the support that Ukraine has. Unfortunately for Russia, this time they are taking on a country that is being fully backed by the most powerful military alliance in human history. Russia is out of its depth here and has no hope of winning in the long run. I believe that Russia winning would be untenable for the US and Europe. If it looked like that was going to happen, there would be military intervention by either NATO or a coalition of the willing led by Poland. Europe is not just going to sit back and allow Russia to hold a dagger to its throat. That is never going to happen. Russia will collapse, just like the USSR, long before they ever conquer Ukraine.

That mine will be a drop in the ocean if it is ever built. My reading suggests there is some complex chemistry involved and that there is no proven technology that resolves the issues in an economically viable way. Does the company you are referring to have a DFS or BFS? I have seen many projects fail because of unproven technology. You let me know when Salton Sea lithium is powering millions of EV's as the OP claimed it would I won't hold my breath.

So the rational conclusion is that things are going to keep getting worse for them. The bottom line is that it was always delusional for Russia to believe it could defeat a NATO-supported Ukraine.

Now that they have the upper hand so firmly, Ukraine may push to drive Russia out completely, including Crimea. With Lend Lease and all the Russian weapons they are capturing it seems likely they could achieve that goal. The added bonus would be the complete destruction of the Russian military. With the sanctions in place, Russia could not rebuild in the next couple of decades, perhaps never.

But the understanding should be that those workers can earn and save money, but once their visa expires, they are returning to their home country to live. Their savings in Euros will go a long way towards living a good life back home.

A surprise attack is practically impossible. So Taiwan will get to use all their anti-ship missiles and from what Peter Zeihan says, perhaps they have enough time to assemble a few nukes. Very little chance of success. That's why they have not tried it already.
